Slieve Donard Summit

Slieve Donard Summit

When one of my friends came over to visit we decided to hike up the highest peak in Northern Ireland, Slieve Donard, a 850m (2790ft) mountain in County Down and what an amazing experience it was. The hike starts with a 2km walk through a forest before it opens into a valley, with breath taking views all around us with the peak of Slieve Donard in the background. It starts of as a pretty steady hike but the last few hours you definitely start to see a incline and it gets a fair bit tougher. When you think of giving up, don’t! Keep going because once you get to the top, you will not regret it. You get spectacular views of County Down, the coastline and the other peaks that are around you. It was tough, but you literally feel like you’re on top of the world and what an amazing feeling that is.
